QA Team Lead (Hands-on) – Quality Engineering

QA Team Lead (Hands-on) - Quality Engineering

Funchal

The Role

We’re looking for a hands-on QA Team Lead or a Senior QA professional to run and improve QA across multiple products. This role is for someone who enjoys combining day-to-day delivery with improving processes, automation, and quality visibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead QA Delivery: Plan, coordinate, and execute testing to ensure release readiness across products.
  • Strategic Automation: Grow high-signal test automation focused on critical user flows and ROI.
  • Optimize the Process: Identify bottlenecks to reduce “lead time to test” and keep quality gates practical and consistent.
  • Track Performance: Report on key metrics to provide clear visibility to stakeholders.
  • Bridge Support & Engineering: Coordinate QA involvement in L1/L2 support – triage, reproduction, and feeding root-cause findings back to the backlog.
  • Mentor & Set Standards: Coach the team, perform code reviews for tests, and promote a strong quality culture.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong Technical Background: Solid experience in both manual and automated testing.
  • Leadership Mindset: Either a formal Lead or a Senior QA who has experience owning areas and mentoring others.
  • Reliability Focused: Proven ability to build stable automated suites and avoid “flaky” tests.
  • Tooling: Comfortable with CI/CD and modern QA tooling (Azure DevOps is a plus).
  • Effective Communicator: Able to work closely with Engineering and Product to align on priorities.

Nice to have

  • Playwright, .NET/C#, Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with enterprise ecosystems (Salesforce, Microsoft D365/SharePoint/Exchange, Google Workspace).

Success Looks Like

  • Reliable automation you build leads to a clear, measurable reduction in manual regression testing.
  • Release cycles become faster and more predictable.
  • A seamless feedback loop exists between Support, QA, and Development.
