Junior Robotics Engineer

Junior Robotics Engineer

Santa Cruz, Madeira

ABOUT US

We’re a robotics startup building an agnostic orchestration platform that allows companies to manage, monitor, and control multiple robots and robotic systems from a single interface. We’re also developing custom Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models that enable natural-language reasoning and autonomy across diverse robot types and industries. Our mission is to make robotics more accessible, intelligent, and scalable across sectors from hospitality and healthcare to defense and sports facility management. Think of it as an operating system for any robot, with an expanding library of intelligent capabilities. We are self-funded and currently building the v1 platform with our first pilot partners in the energy, hospitality and sports sectors.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Junior Robotics Engineer to join the team building the physical intelligence behind our Ardia platform. You will work on autonomous navigation, sensor integration, motion control and robot deployment under the guidance of our Principal Robotics Engineer. This is an entry-level role for someone with strong robotics or engineering fundamentals who wants real-world experience with humanoid and mobile robots in live deployments. Prior industry experience is not required — what matters is a solid foundation, genuine curiosity about physical robots and the drive to learn fast.

TECH STACK

  • ROS 2
  • Python / C++
  • Isaac Sim / Gazebo
  • LiDAR / Sensors

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Support the development and testing of navigation and localization components for our G1 humanoid robot in hotel and facility environments
  • Assist in the integration and calibration of LiDAR sensors, cameras and IMUs on robot platforms
  • Contribute to SLAM pipeline development and testing under the guidance of senior robotics engineers
  • Help build and validate Digital Twin environments in NVIDIA Isaac Sim from 3D scans of real spaces
  • Assist with motion capture session setup (Qualisys, Rokoko) for demonstration data collection
  • Write clean, documented ROS 2 code; participate in code reviews and testing
  • Support field deployments and hardware debugging in real hotel and facility environments

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Solid understanding of ROS or ROS 2 fundamentals — topics, nodes, transforms, TF2
  • Basic familiarity with SLAM, localization or autonomous navigation concepts
  • Programming skills in Python and/or C++ sufficient for writing ROS 2 nodes
  • Hands-on attitude: comfortable with physical hardware, tools and debugging in the real world
  • Ability to work methodically, document your work clearly and ask for help when stuck

Nice to have
  • Experience with NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Gazebo or MuJoCo, even through coursework or personal projects
  • Any hands-on experience with real robot hardware — research lab, internship or personal project
  • Familiarity with LiDAR sensors or depth cameras (RealSense, Livox, Velodyne)
  • Exposure to motion planning libraries (MoveIt 2, Nav2)
  • Basic understanding of computer vision or sensor fusion

WHY JOIN US

  • This is a rare opportunity to help design and build the foundational technology for a robotics platform from the ground up
  • Competitive salary
  • Relocation support and housing assistance for Madeira-based roles; CINM free-zone benefits
  • Small, senior, hands-on team — everyone owns a meaningful slice of the product from day one
  • Get hands-on experience with real humanoid robots in live deployments — rare at junior level
  • Learn directly from principal-level robotics engineers working on SLAM, teleoperation and humanoid autonomy
