Senior Robotics AI Engineer

Senior Robotics AI Engineer

Santa Cruz, Madeira

ABOUT US

We’re a robotics startup building an agnostic orchestration platform that allows companies to manage, monitor, and control multiple robots and robotic systems from a single interface. We’re also developing custom Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models that enable natural-language reasoning and autonomy across diverse robot types and industries. Our mission is to make robotics more accessible, intelligent, and scalable across sectors from hospitality and healthcare to defense and sports facility management. Think of it as an operating system for any robot, with an expanding library of intelligent capabilities. We are self-funded and currently building the v1 platform with our first pilot partners in the energy, hospitality and sports sectors.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Senior Robotics AI Engineer to develop and deploy AI and computer vision systems that power autonomous robot behaviour in hospitality and facility environments. You will work on object detection pipelines, Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models and edge-optimised model deployment — sitting between research and production.

TECH STACK

  • PyTorch
  • YOLOv8 / SAM
  • Edge Deployment
  • R2R2R / Isaac Sim

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Develop, train and deploy computer vision models (YOLOv8, Mask R-CNN) for object detection and scene understanding in hotel and facility environments
  • Build and fine-tune Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models for robot task execution using our LingBot-VA framework
  • Design data collection and curation pipelines from real hotel environments, including augmentation and synthetic data via our R2R2R pipeline
  • Optimise models for edge deployment on robot hardware — balancing accuracy, latency and compute constraints
  • Collaborate with the Robotics team to integrate AI perception and reasoning outputs into robot control pipelines

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, AI/ML or related field; PhD is a plus
  • 4+ years of experience in applied machine learning or computer vision
  • Strong Python and PyTorch skills; experience training and debugging production ML models
  • Experience with object detection and segmentation models (YOLO family, R-CNN, SAM)
  • Experience deploying models to edge hardware with latency and compute constraints
  • Familiarity with 3D vision, point cloud processing (Open3D) or depth sensing
Nice to have
  • Experience with vision-language models or embodied AI
  • Knowledge of reinforcement learning or imitation learning for robotics

WHY JOIN US

  • This is a rare opportunity to help design and build the foundational technology for a robotics platform from the ground up
  • Competitive salary
  • Relocation support and housing assistance for Madeira-based roles; CINM free-zone benefits
  • Small, senior, hands-on team — everyone owns a meaningful slice of the product from day one
  • Work on AI models that run on real robots in real hotel rooms — not just in simulation
  • High ownership and fast iteration: your models go into production quickly
